
For the longest time, I wanted to start archiving bits and pieces of my existence as a Bengali. There are numerous stories, memories, second hand memories and fables that contribute heavily to my aesthetic as an artist. Food was the easiest step to start with.
2021-2022 winter has been exceptionally chilly in Calcutta. "কনকনে" ("konkone") as Baba keeps saying. After all three of us - my parents and I fell ill with Covid and recovered together inside our home, eating became a bonding point for all of us. Every day ends with discussions of what to eat the next day. Over the last one month (January 2022), we have come together to cook many things - some family routine favourites, some new exotic dishes, some dishes that we never dared to make over the years but our collective enthusiasm gave in ultimately.

It is really simple to make and makes for great accompaniment to a simple meal of daal and rice. One can also bite into a green chili for an extra kick of spice and a raw onion for pungency.
